Pursuit
North Pole
A marathon on the roof of the world.
The North Pole pursuit is a marathon run on shifting sea ice over more than 12,000 feet of Arctic Ocean, at the Geographic North Pole. There is no land beneath your feet — only frozen ocean, drifting as you run. It is the northern bookend to Antarctica, the eighth qualifying run for the Marathon Grand Slam, and one of the few marathons on Earth where the course can move during the race.
