The World's Coolest Marathon
A marathon run on shifting sea ice over more than 12,000 feet of Arctic Ocean at the Geographic North Pole. Staged since the early 2000s, the North Pole Marathon is the northern counterpart to the Antarctic races and the eighth qualifying run for the Marathon Grand Slam. A new summer edition reaches the Pole aboard a hybrid-electric polar exploration ship.
